Let us give you some advises.

  • We recommend to stipulate accurately the main schedule of work and to approve hourly payment, or to establish the monthly salary provided for this schedule of work. Analyze how often  your family  needs for services in an overtime: evening hours, the days off, night time. Discuss overtime payment.
  • In details agree on the list of duties of the worker. Inform the worker of your requirements and wishes, tell about preferences of your family, pay his attention to those aspects which are fundamentally important for you when performing certain types of works. Provide oral instructions on frequency of providing certain services.
  • Inform the worker about his powers! Does he have to answer the phone calls? To open a door? To whom, and under what circumstances? If it is necessary, acquaint the worker with people close to your family to whom he has the rights to open a door in your absence without the preliminary warning of arrival (mother, sister, etc.) and surely warn the worker about arrival of strangers, otherwise the worker has no right to let in them the house. Provide the worker with all necessary instructions on the safety matters. Tell in what cases he can act at own discretion, and in what only after coordination with you.
  • If you leave the keys to the employee, familiarize him with the specifics of the locks in your home. If the apartment (house) located on the alarm, familiarize the employee with the rules of its use (on / off). Tell the employee “where”, “what” is what kind of things they can use, and which are not. Familiarize employees with the characteristics and features of your home appliances. Stipulate domestic issues, can be used utensils or your employee has to bring his own. In the case of all day / with accommodation, the employee is required to bring their own bed linen or use your suggestion.
  • Agree on the issue of working clothes, it has to be elegant and match the obligations of employees and the situation of your family. Give the worker his preference for a “change of clothes” and “spare shoes.”
  • If you have pets, the employee should be familiar with them and instruct about the specifics of behavior and the rules of care in order to avoid trouble in dealing with them.

Food

  • The recommended option. You provide the worker with the main products from which she can prepare for herself simple options of food, and you stipulate what products can be used by the worker and what aren’t present.
  • You allow the worker to eat everything that you eat (such option is sometimes used if the worker prepares for your family).
  • You refuse to the worker food, and he brings food with himself, using only your ware for a food warming up.

Psychological aspect.

We offer some suggestions for the establishment of relations with the employee, which we hope will be a reliable and loyal assistant.

  • Stick to friendly, but business relations.
  • Promptly determine the distance between you and the employee, taking into account the peculiarities of your character and the character of the individual.
  • Do not treat very welcome “at home” to an employee, do not let it become a “member of your family.”
  • Decide for yourself, you want to see a man of initiative, and for you it is important to the strict implementation of your orders.
  • Identify and agree, the employee what actions are not welcome, but because of the special circumstances permitted and which are not acceptable to you under any circumstances.
  • Even the most professional employee is constantly changing personality, with varying views, family circumstances etc., so the path to fruitful cooperation is the way of relationships built on mutual understanding and mutual respect.
Briefing housekeeper / maid.
  • Tell the housekeeper about full range of her duties.
  • Match the frequency of performance: general cleaning, window cleaning, bed linen, etc. (Questions requiring individual approval).
  • Instruct the housekeeper on the rules of use of home appliances available in the house ( provide the instructions for use).
  • Tell the housekeeper your requirements for the care of different types of surfaces. Is it possible to use household chemicals intended for this type of surface at the discretion of the employee, or only used the tool about which you reported the employee.
  • If you have antiques provide the employee instructions to care.
  • Introduce the employee to the specifics of dressing rooms, which departments are for things which members of your family.
  • Show the employee, where the laundry room, where to dry clothes.
  • Introduce the employee with the things in need of special care.
  • Introduce the employee to your requirements for footwear, accessories care.
  • Show the housekeeper, where the equipment for ironing (ironing board, iron / steamer / ironing installation, etc.)
  • Consider and agree with the housekeeper whether her duty to buy household chemicals, or she looks after presence, and makes a list of what you need to buy.
  • Agree on the issue of compliance housekeeper additional smaller orders (payment of utility bills, grocery shopping, taking care of animals, etc.)
